POLITICSSep 13Laughter erupts as BBC reveals Trump security foibles: 'I do believe it!'Law enforcement tasked with protecting President Donald Trump mistakenly talked tactics with a random cameraman, the BBC revealed Sunday. BBC News reporter Enda McClafferty discussed the incident during a recent on-air interview about Trump's ongoing trip to Ireland, where the president has already spurred an international uproar , mass protests and questions about his cognitive health . "Yesterday two gardaí flagged down our camera man and mistook him for an undercover Garda officer," he said, "and started to talk tactics to him!" The host of BBC's Sunday Politics began to chuckle as McClafferty explained it was the cameraman who told the gardaí he was actually a journalist. Trump's security has caused a large headache for Ireland law enforcement. Rank-and-file gardaí have spent recent weeks fuming after being told to foot the bill for their own accommodation, the Irish Mirror reported this week. Garda Commissioner Justin Kelly designated the visit an "extraordinary event" over the summer due to the scale of the policing operation, dubbed Operation Far Sunrise, spanning Dublin, Shannon and Trump's golf resort in Doonbeg, County Clare. “There’s a use-and-abuse policy from management and they’re expecting lads to just show up,” one source told the Mirror. It appears that despite the grumbles, the lads did show up. "We have more gardaí than we have spectators at the golf," said McClafferty. "Around every bog corner, if you like, there's a squad car." McClafferty then took a moment to rib Trump about another security vehicle. "Donald Trump has brought with him an armor-plated golf cart," said McClafferty. "I do believe it," Enda," host Mark Carruthers replied. "Thanks very much, indeed."rawstory · united states of america

POLITICSSep 13Reform Could Be Forced To Hand Back Some Of Their £72M Crypto Cash BonanzaNigel Farage has said he is “humbled and honoured” to receive the money. Reform UK could be forced to hand back some of the £72 million the party has received from two crypto billionaires, it has emerged. Ben Delo and Christopher Harborne have given the party £36m each in the past 48 hours. Party leader Nigel Farage said he was “humbled and honoured” that the pair had made the donations. But housing secretary Angela Rayner has suggested that a new law capping donations form foreign donors at £100,000 could see Reform having to return some of the pair’s money. The proposed reforms are based on the recommendations of a review by former civil servant Philip Rycroft. Although Delo is understood to have returned from Hong Kong to live in the UK earlier this year, Harborne is still based in Thailand. Rayner told BBC1’s Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg that the new law would be “retrospective”, meaning it would cover donations fro foreign donors dating back to March. That could see Reform forced to hand back almost all of Harborne’s £36m. Rayner said: “With the retrospective action, anyone that’s received donations that don’t comply with what was in the Rycroft review ... would have 60 days to return that money.” But Robert Jenrick , Reform’s economic spokesman, dismissed Rayner’s remarks. He said: “These two donations are entirely in line with the law as it is, and as far as we know, the law as it’s going to be in the future.” Listen to Commons People, the podcast that makes politics easy.
