For Iraqi minorities, World Cup representation is a source of pride
France 24 [en]
France faces Iraq in a group stage match on June 22. The Iraqi team faces a significant disadvantage in this challenging group. But even after a 4-1 loss to Norway in its first match, for the country, this World Cup appearance remains an event not to be missed following a 40 year absence from the competition. This is especially true in Kurdistan in the north of the country where the presence of players from national minorities is significant.
